Attending a festival is a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a weekend, soaking up the good weather and immersing yourself in the electric atmosphere with friends. The good news is that festival season isn’t too far away, so it might be time to start thinking about what essential festival items you need to take with you. Attending a festival for the first time can be an overwhelming experience, but that’s why it’s important to get prepared as early as possible. From festival seats to sun cream, we’ve listed a few of the essential items you’ll need to take with you to your next festival.

Seating

It might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you write your packing list, but it’s an important item to bring with you. Festivals are really fun, but are also very tiring! You’ll probably be on your feet for most of the day, so it’s important that you give yourself a break to rest and recharge. That’s where festival seats by Flipstick come in a portable, lightweight seat that will allow you to take a breather and rest your legs whenever you need to. Festival seats come in various styles and colours, giving you plenty of options to choose from.

Water Bottle

One of the most important items for you to remember to bring with you is a water bottle. Festivals, especially ones that happen during the summer months, can get very hot and sweaty. For this reason, you need to ensure you stay hydrated throughout the day. Bring a refillable water bottle with you so you can regularly top it up at the water refill stations that will be located in several locations on the festival grounds.

Sun Cream and Hats

As we’ve already mentioned, summer festivals can get pretty hot. Because you’ll be spending a lot of your time outside basking in the sun’s rays, you need to make sure you top up your high-SPF sun cream regularly. The last thing you want is sunburn or, in the worst-case scenario, sunstroke! You should also wear a hat during the day to shield your face from the sun—doing this will also help you stay cool.

Waterproof Coat

We’ve got our fingers crossed that you’ll have lovely weather for your festival, but unfortunately, the weather may let you down. It has a habit of doing that! It’s essential to pack a waterproof coat that you can throw on when the heavens open. The good news is that many waterproof coats come in small bags that easily fit inside small bags, so it won’t take up too much space.

Portable Charger

It’s important that you stay connected at a festival. Not only will you want to take photos and check the festival lineup, but you also need your phone to be charged so, in the event of an emergency, you can make calls. That’s why it’s vital you bring a portable charger that will keep your phone topped up wherever you are.

Comfortable Clothes and Shoes

Other essential festival items are comfortable clothes and shoes. You’ll be out and about on your feet for most of the day, so you need to be comfortable with what you’re wearing. Choose shoes that are comfortable and fit well, such as trainers or, if you trust that it isn’t going to rain, sandals. Regarding clothes, it’s a good idea to wear layers as it may get quite cold and night and warm during the day. You may also get muddy, so bring an extra set of clothes for each day you’re at the festival if you can fit the items into your bag.

Cash and Card

Although most festivals will accept digital forms of payment, it’s always a good idea to bring some cash with you just in case these systems are down. Plus, some smaller vendors may only accept cash, so bringing some with you will save you from wasting time queuing up at a cash machine.

Food

Let’s face it, festival food can get pretty expensive, and queues can be incredibly long. That’s why we recommend that you bring some food with you. Bring food that is easy to pack and eat on the go, such as cereal bars, pre-made sandwiches, crisps, and dry goods such as noodles, if you can fit them in your bag!

  1. So right about the water bottle! Too many times I’ve gone to a festival and I’ve never thought about bringing water. Then having to pay just about $11 for a small bottle! Great post!
