There’s nothing quite like escaping to the Welsh hills for a peaceful few days of fresh air, countryside walks, and cosy comfort — and that’s exactly what we found at Cambrian Mountains Camping and Glamping.
Tucked away in the heart of Mid Wales in the Cambrian Mountains, this dog friendly site offers the perfect blend of nature and comfort, and our short break in the Teifi Pod was just what we needed. Our stay was gifted but all thoughts are our own and as always, honest!

Peaceful countryside and stunning views
From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how calm and quiet it was. The Teifi Pod overlooks rolling hills, with views that change beautifully throughout the day, misty mornings, golden afternoons, and starry nights with the added bonus of it being on the cusp of a dark skies location – you really are spoiled for clear beautiful skies. It’s the kind of setting that instantly makes you slow down and breathe a little deeper.

Toffee absolutely loved it too, with plenty of space to stretch her legs and explore safely nearby. Walks along the nearby river were a particular highlight, peaceful, scenic, and perfect for an adventurous pup like Toffee who enjoyed a swim in the river.
Cosy comfort in the Teifi glamping pod
This was our first glamping experience and the Teifi Pod was everything and more we could expect from a glamping getaway. Compact yet cleverly designed, it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, a snug bed with cosy bedding and twinkle lights for at night, a TV and Wi-Fi for relaxed evenings, and a well-equipped kitchenette stocked with the essentials to make a proper cup of tea.
A thoughtful welcome pack greeted us on arrival, complete with chocolate and a few other goodies — a lovely touch after our journey. But the unexpected highlight for me? The powerful hot shower! After a day exploring the surrounding countryside, it felt like pure luxury.
The welcome we received from Menna, who greets all her guests with her warmth and friendliness was lovely, and we enjoyed hearing about the local area and her tips on where we could adventure.
My only recommendation was that the hot tub (which we didn’t use) had some privacy screening as it was in view of the remainder of the site. Which for some may not be an issue, but for me personally wasn’t my idea of relaxing. However, I can quite imagine soaking in the hot tub with a glass of vino and looking up at the clear starry skies – so not completely horrid!
Exploring the local area
We only stayed for a short break, but it left us wishing we’d booked longer. The Cambrian Mountains are full of hidden gems, from peaceful lakes and waterfalls to dog friendly trails and cosy pubs. On our way home, we stopped at Usk Reservoir for a scenic walk, which was the perfect way to round off our mini adventure.

It is perfectly located for adventures in Bannau Brycheiniog, or if you want to explore the west coast of Wales and visit some of the traditional seaside towns like Aberaeron or Aberystwyth.
Dog friendly
When it came to being dog friendly, Toffee was made to feel very welcome. The information pack contained details for local vets, as well as local dog friendly walks. There weren’t any rules about dogs on the furniture (which to me always means that its a home from home and treat with respect).
The garden area was not enclosed, however we kept Toffee on her longline and she happily lay in the grass and watched our neighbours stroll by.

I’ve recently written an article about what to look for when you’re searching for dog friendly accommodation which might have some helpful tips!
Final thoughts
Our stay at Cambrian Mountains Camping and Glamping was everything we love about travelling with our dog. It had peaceful surroundings, a warm welcome, and all the comfort we could ask for. The Teifi Pod made for a wonderful base to relax and reconnect with nature without giving up any of the little luxuries that make a trip special. I don’t know that I’m ready for camping yet, but the glamping pod was a great alternative to a campervan.
If you’re looking for a dog friendly glamping break in Wales, we can’t recommend this spot enough. Whether you’re after a romantic retreat, a quiet solo escape, or a few days exploring the hills with your four-legged friend, the Cambrian Mountains are calling.
