LifecanbetoffIt goes without saying that our lockdown fashion choices have changed somewhat in the last year. Business suits have been swapped out with sweatpants and sparkly dresses have been swapped out for a slogan sweatshirt.
I for one, have fully embraced lockdown fashion with my particular favourites being my selection of sweaters. But, as mentioned in my post Life can be Toff in a Lockdown, I still make sure to get dressed properly each working day. Even if my style is slightly more relaxed than usual!
Lockdown has also introduced me to an amazing variety of small businesses, including those that are located just a few short miles from home.
Life can be Toff lockdown fashion favourites
The Slogan Tee
One of the first purchases I made last summer was for my “I don’t hug” slogan t-shirt from Pink Clouding. Admittedly, this sentiment applied as much before lockdown, as it will during and after!
This was followed by a “Maybe Swearing will help” tee that has become a firm favourite of mine!
I expect there will be more slogan t-shirts finding their way to my wardrobe, whether I wear them in bed, under a cardigan or out on the warmer days during my walks. I have always loved a slogan so these types of items really appeal to me.
Plus, a tee can be easily dressed up with a nice pair of skinnies, a blazer and some snazzy trainers. Could this make them a work staple? Ok, maybe just the tame slogans!
Sweatshirts
Yes, I have a few of these now. The first being my personalised Life can be Toff engraved sweater I got early in Lockdown 1.0 from Stitched Equestrian. House of Hoopla (was Bear Hug Goods) , Victoria’s partner company has a great range of sweaters and has become quite well known for both her Socially Distant and Fenton slogan sweaters.
For a long time, even before Lockdown I had yearned for one of the animal print sweatshirts from Scamp and Dude. It wasn’t until December, I finally made my decision and bought one. I had always imagined buying myself a bright coloured one, but when I saw the black and gold option it just seemed perfect for the festive season – and beyond. The quality of these sweaters really shows and they fit amazingly. I also love the story behind Scamp and Dude and its unique lightening bolt power button.
Wild Like Her – I couldn’t talk about sweaters and hoodies without talking about Wild Like Her. I discovered these guys in Tetbury Post Office, another local company (to me). Using money given to me by my Nan for Christmas, I bought a “make it your way” sweater. The beauty of the make it your way is you can choose from a huge range of sweater colours, vinyl colours and also the pattern you have.
Leggings
Yes yes, they are meant to be for exercise but I can’t help that active leggings are so damned comfortable.
I have two favourites, my main go to is the ones from local company Sturdy by Design. With a great range of funky designs these active leggings fit perfectly and best of all, they are squat proof (for when I do exercise). I have 4 or 5 pairs of Sturdy’s now, including the winter fabric ones which are super toasty and perfect for snowy walks.
Lucy Locket Loves does equally as bright and funky leggings, but as well as the active range of leggings, there are casual and loungewear options too. Slightly different material that is super comfortable. I am the proud owner of 7 pairs of Lockets now, and I expect that will grow further!
Trainers
My high heel days were behind me long before lockdown happened and for the past couple of years I’ve been drawn to brightly coloured or sparkly casual trainers. Yes, I have a few pairs but funnily enough have only added one pair to my lockdown wardrobe!

I long for a pair of the trainers from Keith Scarrott Shoes
I’ve also added a couple of pairs of running trainers to my collection, favouring a bright pink pair of Asics.
Pinafore Dresses
I’ve never really been a massive dress person but I’ve found pinafore dresses really comfortable and versatile during lockdown. Teemed with a slogan tee’s in summer, or a pair of thick woolly tights and a jumper during colder days.
I’ve been longing after one of the funky designs by Run and Fly, particularly one of the dinosaur prints!
I’m not sure I’m ready for their dungaree’s yet though…
Parka Coat
This parka was a perfectly timed purchase before the first snow. It’s proved an absolute godsend on the really cold days keeping me super toasty. It was in the Very sale and is one of Very’s own brand coats, but it was about £30 so has been a very worthwhile purchase for the use I’ve got out of it. I’m only sad it’s not waterproof!
Even if Jon does call me Liam Gallagher when I’m wearing it…

Admittedly, I doubt my wardrobe will change much after lockdown. I’ve always been a fan of funky sweaters and trainers and occasionally would wear them to work. Maybe I should work on my work wardrobe?!
