I’ve already shared my sustainable gifts for fashion fanatics, but what about sustainable home gifts? For the person who loves their home comforts but wish to have something that is sustainable and meaningful.

Whilst it might be cheaper and easier to buy something off the shelf in your local bargain store (I’m guilty of this myself) we can never be certain of how the product is made, and what makes it so cheap.

This is why I’ve put together this lovely collection of sustainable home gifts for you to consider, whether you’re treating yourself or someone you love. There’s such a great choice and if you know your recipients style, it makes it even easier!

Snazzy Ceramics

Now I don’t know about you, but I have a bit of a mug fetish. I can never resist a new mug and when I saw this absolutely adorable collection of 70’s inspired ceramic mugs from HK Living sold via Folk Interiors, I couldn’t resist including them. These beautiful rustic mugs are made of textiles and materials that come from sustainable sources, and HK Living support fair trade.

What’s more, they are reasonably priced if you want to buy your recipient a set.

Cushions

Veo.World has an extensive collection of products from sustainable brands. Including a fabulous range of soft furnishings.

Who doesn’t love a scatter cushion?

Tikauo Mirage cushion covers are hand-printed on dyed recycled cotton fabric using Azo-free dyes. They are produced at a mill in South India aimed at providing sustainable employment for their community.

Blankets

I can’t very well add cushions to the list without adding blankets too can I?

I’m a sucker for a blanket, in fact I’m cosily wrapped in one now. But when I came across Atlantic Blankets, a Cornwall based company that sells a beautiful range of recycled blankets – I stopped a moment!

Atlantic Blankets really care about our planet and have a dedicated sustainability promise, fashioning timeless products for a priceless future. Reducing their impact on the environment and repurposing recycled materials, they have created super-cosy blankets that are not only utterly luxurious but eco-friendly too.

With a choice of recycled wool or cotton, there is a style to suit everyone. A great range of colours as well as there being a lucky dip option (£40 for a decent-sized wool blanket)

Storage solutions

Baskets are a beautiful way to offer storage solutions in your home. From log baskets, to dog beds to fruit baskets. The possibilities are endless.

The Basket Room offers a huge selection of baskets. The baskets are typically made from natural materials: from sisal plants, to banana fibre, grasses & plant leaves, making them a very sustainable product. More importantly, they strive to ensure their weavers are given a fair deal. Orders supplement the weavers’ livelihoods and provide an additional income in otherwise challenging working environments. The Basket Room pay their weavers consistent and fair prices for their work. Each weaver is paid per piece and prices are reviewed annually.

The items are shipped in shipping containers from Africa rather than flown and as little impact is made having items distributed throughout the UK. With the company offering a collect from their HQ option for all purchases.

Dried Flowers

I love, love, love dried flowers and these beautiful stems from Arca Lifestyle are no exception. Dried flowers last up to 400 times longer than a fresh bouquet of flowers, making them a beautiful way to gift flowers.

Can I also take a moment to highlight the amazingly funky wooden trays sold at Arca.

Wallart

Art can be a very personal thing to a person and whilst someone’s interpretation of art might be different to another’s, if you know what a person likes then it makes it a very easy gift to buy!

These linocut illustration by Isla Middleton sold via Form are absolutely stunning. Printed with vegetable-based, vegan inks onto a lightly textured pale grey recycled paper, they inspire and encourage you to connect with nature.

At only £20 each these are very reasonable and would look amazing in a simple frame.

Candles

Candles are often an easy and obvious choice when it comes to buying for the home. But, it’s easy to purchase candles which are not made sustainably or use artificial scents or parafin wax.

Novo Candles are inspired by nature hand- poured aromatherapy candles containing only naturally occurring soy wax, high-grade essential oils and phthalate & paraben free fragrance oils. Novo Candles packaging is made from recycled materials that can be reused. Not forgetting being able to recycle and reuse the candle jar too!

For £12 you get up to 25 hours burn time and for £15.50 up to 40 hours. That’s incredible value and make the perfect gift. With a wide range of scents you’ll find something to suit everyone – and at that price, why not get yourself one too?!
