I was gifted a Smellacloud Nimbus 2.0 for this review along with two essential oils. I chose Cinnamon and Pine Tree scents and give my thoughts on those too.

I chose the Nimbus 2.0 in green, this 200ml vase shaped white and green diffuser really fits in well with my interior and is unimposing in any setting.

I chose the green as it reminded me of the Cotswold green I see so often.

The Nimbus 2.0 has 3 mist timer settings, 2, 4 or 8 hours. The 8 hour setting goes on and off every 3 minutes. The mister can be used with or without the light.

It also has 7 LED light colours which can be used in conjunction with the mister or on its own. You can choose one of the 7 solid colours or an alternating colour – this is my favourite, particularly at night when it’s subtle colour changes add a bit of atmosphere to the room in partnership with the aromatherapy scents.

It is really simple to set up, plug it in, use the measuring cup to add water and add a few drops of your Smellacloud essential oil (I use around 4 or 5). Select your preferred mist option and away it goes.

I have found that the 8 hour setting is the best, but so far, have got a maximum of 4 hours before it runs out of water and turns itself off (including the light) – this is using the 100ml measuring cup and not the full 200ml capacity. There is an indicator on the inside of the diffuser to use as a maximum fill capacity.

As well as making your home smell nicer and you feel better, the diffuser also acts as a humidifier which helps during these winter months when our central heating is on high causing us to get sore throats or dry skin.

The Essential Oils

I chose Cinnamon and Pine Tree scents to review with my Nimbus 2.0. Smellacloud has a wide range of 100% natural essential oils which it recommends using with your Smellacloud diffuser to maintain its warranty.

The Cinnamon scent has a warming effect and works as an antibacterial and creates an exotic atmosphere. It triggers memories of Christmas festivities which is why I chose it.

This is a particularly strong scent and for this I use maybe 2 or 3 drops as it can be overpowering. I prefer to use it in the living room during the day rather than at night.

Pine Tree helps provide you with concentration and motivation as well as assist with restlessness. It provides a refreshing scent and dispels negative energy.

Apparently it is also a scent hated by critters such as mosquitoes, flies and silverfish and such creatures will apparently stay away from your home. I often have woodlice in my home and whether its the time of the year or the use of this, I have noticed there are hardly any now. So maybe, it does work!

Of the two I have so far, this is my favourite scent as it reminds me of being outside in the forest and woodlands. It’s another festive scent too, which is great at this time of year.

I look forward to purchasing some of the other oils Smellacloud has available such as the orange and Bergamot as well as Eucalyptus to help with colds and sniffles!.

Benefits of an oil diffuser

There are several benefits that can be had from having essential oil diffusers around your home.

Improved Sleep

There are several reasons behind not getting enough sleep and one of the benefits to having an essential oil diffuser is that there are many therapeutic oil blends available to help promote a good night sleep.

Wanting to test this theory out with my Smellacloud, I put it on for 2 hours whilst I went to sleep.

The gentle bubbling of the water and the soft interchanging lights were not disturbing. The fresh Pine Tree scent helped evoke the feeling of nature which helped me have a deep sleep, and for the first time in a long while, I slept without waking!

Stress and Anxiety reduction

There’s no wonder that people are currently experiencing stress or anxiety, with the whole situation surrounding the pandemic on top of the usual day to day stresses of modern life it’s important to be able to take some time to relax.

I particularly love the Pine Tree scent used in my Smellacloud Nimbus 2.0 as it has that whole nature feel about it, whilst some days I’ve been stuck indoors busy on zoom meetings and unable to get outside, my Smellacloud has been going to help keep the air fresh.

I’ve felt more awake and focussed since using it.

Boost your immune system

Using an oil diffuser with an immune system blend oil can help prevent you from falling ill. This is particularly helpful during high times of stress or during the colder winter months.

I’ve found the cinnamon scent particularly good at helping me to relax, which in turn help keeps my immune system boosted. I’m sure the Eucalyptus scent would be perfect for helping to clear your sinuses at the first sign of sniffles, so this is one of the next oils on my list!

Repels Insects

As mentioned above some of the essential oil blends created by Smellacloud are great at repelling insects. It’s both a natural and safe method of repelling insects from your home and will not harm any pets you have.

There are certain scents that can help with certain bugs, so reading the descriptions available on Smellacloud will help with that as well as additional research. For example, cedarwood is good for repelling fleas.

I hope my continued use of it keeps my little woodlice houseguests at bay! I expect the Peppermint scent will definitely keep the mahoosive spiders away! That’s another scent also on my purchase list!

Eliminates Odours

Diffusing essential oils can help to eliminate those stinky smells – in my case, Kira. They work by eliminating odours by purifying the air. Different scents can help eliminate different odours too.

Plus, they smell bloody lovely anyway so nice to have around – the cinnamon is particularly festive and is getting me in the mood for all things warm fire, cocoa and presents!

These are just some of the benefits of having an essential oil diffuser alongside improving respiratory health, improving your energy levels and mood and they are a safer alternative to candles or incense.

Conclusion

Smellacloud Nimbus 2.0 essential oil diffuser fits in well in the home

Overall, the Smellacloud Nimbus 2.0 is a nifty little diffuser, I’d love to get another for different rooms in the house, currently I’m moving this one around.

It fits in perfectly with your decor, but with plenty of other shapes and colours available in the Smellacloud range there is bound to be something to fit everyone’s taste.

The fact the company strives to be sustainable also hits plus points for me.

The wide selection of oils and the fact they really think about the blends and the purpose really appeal to me.

My only criticism would be the postage costs, there is free P&P for orders over £30 but if I’m only wanting to buy one essential oil at £5.95 the additional postage makes it a bit pricy, so I would need to save my orders until I want to get a few of the oils. However, with the selection available this isn’t currently a problem!

Being restricted to the Smellacloud oils to maintain the warranty of your diffuser is a little restrictive, but obviously makes great business sense – you want to make sure you maintain the workability of your diffuser and they are designed to work with the particular blend that Smellacloud uses.

I would definitely recommend these products to others, the initial purchase of the diffuser is not costly, with prices starting at around £30. There is plenty of choice of both diffuser and oils available and it appears to be a company that has very genuine ethos.

I wholly support them!
